There is no doubt that the internet and your wireless network are now seen as an essential utility for many individuals and businesses and that connection speeds have increased significantly in recent years. When things go wrong it is often essential to get a quick fix. Here are some of the more common problems and what you can do about them:
No internet connection.
We’ve all experienced something worse than slow internet – no connection! The first thing to do is to take a look at your router and see if the connection and internet lights are green (they may flicker but they do need to be green). If they are not it is likely that the connection to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is the problem rather than your computer or phone. You will need to ring your ISP.
Slow wireless network
Internet and WiFi speeds have improved significantly over the past few years and we now take a fast connection as normal. This is not always the case though, if you’ve tried to surf the net on a train or in a coffee shop you will know what we mean!
This can be due to a number of reasons:
- Slow connection from the ISP
- The distance of your device from the Router
- The number of devices using your wireless
- Interference from other routers

Intermittent WiFi connection
This is the most frustrating problem you can have with your wireless network, one minute it works the next minutes it doesn’t. This can be due to quite a number of problems, with the router, its location or the receiving hardware. You can spend hours, perhaps days trying to identify the fault.
